Commercial electricianTenant improvementsIndustrial controlsIt depends on your insurance company, and only the insurer can tell you. Some insurers ask about the panel brand when they write or renew a policy, and some may ask for an electrician’s evaluation or a replacement. Call your agent and ask directly. An electrician can tell you what you have and what it needs.
Zinsco panels were common in homes built from the 1950s through the 1970s. Electrical inspectors and home inspectors have long reported problems with them, such as breakers that do not trip when they should and breakers that overheat or fuse to the metal bar behind them. Because of that history, some insurance companies ask about the panel brand on applications, renewals or home inspections.
We cannot tell you what your insurer will do. Policies and underwriting rules differ from one company to the next, and they change over time. The only reliable answer comes from your insurer or your agent.
A licensed electrician can confirm the panel brand, check for heat damage, loose breakers or scorch marks, and write down what was found. If you decide to replace it, the work needs a permit and an inspection in most of the West Valley, which also gives you a record to show your insurer.
We will not push a replacement you do not need. If the panel is in poor shape, we will say so plainly. If your insurer only wants an evaluation, that is what we will talk about.

No one rule applies to every company. Some ask about the panel and some do not. Ask your own insurer.
Not by itself. The concern is how the breakers perform with age. A licensed electrician can check its condition.
It often removes the question, but only your insurer can confirm that. Keep the permit and final inspection record.
