Commercial electricianTenant improvementsIndustrial controlsOften, yes, but the panel size alone does not answer it. An electrician runs a load calculation to see how much capacity your home already uses. If there is room, a Level 2 charger can go on a 100-amp panel. If not, a lower charger setting, a load management device or a panel upgrade can work.
A Level 2 charger needs its own 240-volt circuit, much like an electric dryer or range. It also draws power for long stretches, so the circuit is sized for continuous use. Whether a 100-amp panel can carry it depends on everything else in the house: the AC, electric range, water heater, dryer, pool or spa equipment, and any other large appliances.
In the Arizona heat, the air conditioner is usually the biggest load, and it runs hard in the same evening hours many people plug in their car. That is why two homes with the same 100-amp panel can get different answers. One with gas appliances and a smaller AC may have plenty of room. One with an electric range, electric water heater and a pool pump may not.

No. Many homes have room. A load calculation shows whether yours does.
Level 1 charging uses a standard outlet and needs no new circuit, but it charges slowly. It works for some drivers who do not go far each day.
