Sun City and the West Valley

Pool lights in West Valley homes

A pool light sits under water in a sealed fixture, with its cord running back through a pipe to a box near the pool. Over the years seals wear, lenses cloud and water can get in. The Arizona sun and pool chemicals are also hard on the parts above the water.

Because the light sits in water people swim in, protection matters as much as the light. When we replace or add a light, we check the ground fault protection, the bonding that ties metal parts together and the connections in the box, not just the bulb. Circuits for pumps, heaters and hot tubs are covered on our pool and spa wiring page.

Questions

Panel upgrade questions

Can you work on a pool light that is already installed?

Yes. Tell us what the light is doing and we will tell you what it likely needs. We look at the fixture and its circuit before recommending a repair or a replacement.

Can my old pool light be changed to LED?

Usually, yes, as long as the new light is made for the opening in your pool wall. We check the fit before we recommend one.

Why does my pool light trip the GFCI?

Often water has gotten into the fixture or a connection has worn. Do not keep resetting it. We test the light and the circuit and find the cause.

Do pool lights need special protection?

Yes. Lights in water need ground fault protection and proper bonding. We check both whenever we work on a pool light.

How much does pool light installation cost?

It depends on the light, the pool and the condition of the wiring and box. We look first and give you a clear price before any work starts.

Do you warranty pool light work?

Yes. Two years on all labor and material we provide.
